Park in one of the secure Vieux Port car parks and explore on foot.<\/p><p>You can also use public transport\u2014bus lines 22 and 23, just 400 meters from the hotel, take you to the\u00a0<em>Rond-Point du Prado<\/em>. From there, take the metro to the city center or bus 83 for a scenic ride along the Corniche to the Vieux Port.<\/p><p><strong>From the Mucem to the Bonne M\u00e8re via Le Panier<\/strong><\/p><p>The Mucem is a must-see, with spectacular views over the Vieux Port and Marseille\u2019s bay, and stunning architecture. It hosts exhibitions that often celebrate Mediterranean cultures. Entry to the terraces and footbridges\u2014offering a contrast between modern Mucem and historic Fort Saint Jean\u2014is free.<\/p><p>Right next door is the replica of the\u00a0<em>Cosquer Cave<\/em>, a submerged Paleolithic cave near Cap Morgiou. This immersive experience, done aboard a little train, is perfect for rainy days and family visits.<\/p><p>From the Mucem, stroll through\u00a0<em>Le Panier<\/em>, the oldest district of Marseille. Get lost in its narrow alleys, full of charm and color\u2014street art, designer boutiques, and cozy caf\u00e9 terraces abound. Though it requires some stamina to climb its many stairs, the reward is a taste of Mediterranean spontaneity and spectacular sea views.<\/p><p>Leaving\u00a0<em>Le Panier<\/em>, enjoy a walk along the\u00a0<em>Vieux Port<\/em>. To cross to the other side and head up to\u00a0<em>Notre-Dame de la Garde<\/em>\u00a0(\u201cLa Bonne M\u00e8re\u201d), take the Ferry Boat.<\/p><p>Bus 60 also runs from the Mucem to the Bonne M\u00e8re.<\/p><p>Alternatively, the little tourist train departs from the City Hall for a scenic ride along the Corniche and up to the basilica.<\/p><p><strong>Visit the Cantini Museum and stroll around Cours Julien<\/strong><\/p><p>If you enjoy modern art, you\u2019ll love the\u00a0<em>Mus\u00e9e Cantini<\/em>\u00a0in the city center\u2014a small museum with an excellent permanent collection and interesting temporary exhibits.<\/p><p>While in the area, treat yourself to a scoop from\u00a0<em>Vanille Noire<\/em>, just opposite the opera house.<\/p><p>After the museum, take a short walk to\u00a0<em>Cours Julien<\/em>, Marseille\u2019s artsy, bohemian district. France\u2019s largest street art neighborhood, Cours Julien is full of charm.
